photography evaluation.

The photography unit we did lasted for 2-3 months, at first i didn't really understand what we were doing in the animation unit because id never done anything to do with animation or photography so it took a bit of time to get used to, using the equipment properly and being able to write about what we'd done at first was hard because we didn't know what everything was called. the first couple of sessions were the most difficult because it was hard to take everything in and then re-produce it to the same standard that we were shown.

Things i enjoyed.

I enjoyed a lot about photography everything we did was very interesting and useful, once i got used to using all the equipment and learnt the names and uses of things it became a lot easier, the thing i enjoyed the most was booking out the studio and doing my own photo shoot with my classmates, this gave me a lot of confidence in myself being able to set it all up and control everything myself this will also give me experience and the ability to help others if they are stuck when doing the same. Being trusted to use all the equipment and have the studio to yourself makes you want to produce good work and show that you can do the work to a good standard. Our research was fairly simple, we found out photos from professional photographers shoots and then in our own shoots the models posed like the models in the professional shoots, then we used lightroom to edit them into the same style and colour tone.

Another part of photography i enjoyed was when we went out as a class and looked at lighting effects outside and what different equipment we can use to enhance or decrease light in our shots. Our tutor steve took us outside the college site and we found an area that was in the shade, this was a session that aloud us to show we could do what we were being shown. we took it in turns to take the photos and steve would tell us what to do to capture the light while our partner used a lastolite reflector to reflect the light onto the subject.

All the work we did in the studio, outside of college grounds, at home etc is all recorded on blogger so we have proof of our work, a lot of our work to imported into different programs on the imac's so we could edit them our selfs and get used to the editing software.

Things i didn't enjoy.

I didn't enjoy doing the David Hockney work because it was very long winded and included a lot of writing, i think this is why the majority of the class didn't enjoy it because of the written side of things. What we were asked to reproduce i really enjoyed doing but it was just the amount of writing that we had to put with it. The tripticks work we did was good fun to do because it allowed us to be creative with what we were photographing, we chose to capture the head, mid section, and lower legs in our photos. We imported them into lightroom so we could edit them ourselves, the reason we decided to photograph 3 sections of the body is because we wanted to keep them as simple and as close to our research as possible.

This was the only thing i didn't enjoy.

Improvements.

I could of made a lot of improvements to my work, i could of taken more time over my written work to get it up a grade, my practical work i am very happy with because i did it to the best of my ability. I put 100% effort into the research and making of my practical work, the written side of the course is what could of let me down because i didn't pay as much attention to it as i should of so i had to spend extra time at the end re-doing it all when i should of done it properly in the first place.
